Nita J. Fittro

Nita Jean Fittro, 82, passed away Oct. 11, 2014, at Adventist Medical Center in Portland.

She was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Kelso to Rudolph and Alma Pilat. She graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1950 and married Robert Fittro in 1953.

Nita began her career with Weyerhaeuser Co. in 1950 and retired in 1985 from the lumber sales department. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, fishing and socializing, which included visiting with her neighbors, playing cards and bowling with her friends. She worked on many high school reunions and took trips to Hawaii, Branson, Mo., and an Alaskan cruise with Bob for their 50th anniversary.

Nita is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Terri Fittro, and many Fittro relatives. Nita had no siblings.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Fittro, in 1990; and her husband of 60 years, Bob, in 2013.

A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Longview Memorial Park.
