APC begins screening for Adamawa gov aspirants

A five-man screening committee set up by the National secretariat of the All Progressives Congress to screen governorship aspirants of the party for the forthcoming governorship by-election in Adamawa on Monday, commenced sitting at the party’s secretariat in Yola.
Seven aspirants who include: Senator Bindow jibrilla, Senator Ahmed Barata, Yakubu Tsala, Emmanuel Bello, Ibrahim Mijinyawa, Dahiru Bobbo and Boss Mustapha have indicated their interest to contest in the election scheduled for October 11.
While addressing the aspirants, the chairman of the screening committee, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), said the committee would follow the guidelines set up by the party in screening the aspirants.
“We are one family, but I’m cautioning you against making frivolous allegation against each other, we are going to do justice and fairness to all aspirants,” he said.
Akeredolu added that at the end of the exercise, the committee would send its report to the national Secretariat of the party and “any aspirant that is not satisfied can lodge an appeal before the screening appeal panel”.
In his remark, the state secretary of the party Alhaji Abdullahi Bakari, said “Our party has adopted a modified electoral system for the election of the delegate and we have over 6,000 delegates across Adamawa state, including all Exco of the party from ward to state levels and other elected public office holders under the banner of the party”.
He urged the delegates to vote wisely for the aspirant that would emerge as the flag bearer of the party during the by-election.
