Ondo to launch 16 new mega schools













he Ondo State Government has said that 16 mega schools are ready for unveiling in its bid to provide greater access to primary and secondary education in the state.
The state’s Information Commissioner, Kayode Akinmade, told journalists in Akure on Thursday that 48 of the schools were in the pipeline, among which 16 would be commissioned at the end of July.
He said the mega school initiative of the government had changed the face of education in Ondo State.
Akimade noted that contractors handling the projects had embarked on the last phase, which is the supply of the furniture and would concluded in the next two weeks.
According to him, the state government has also embarked on the building of sub-urban primary schools at Irese, in the Ifedore Local Government and would be replicated in all other areas.
He said, “The vision of the state government is to take basic education to a high level through qualitative education and ensure that the Millennium Development Goals of the Universal Basic Education are achieved.
“The government will not compromise its determination to bridge the gap between children of the rich and the poor in terms of having a level- playing ground of good and qualitative education as well as effective teaching and learning,” he said.
